The Red Lion Smokehouse kitchen is headed up by Chef John Murray. Chef Murray trained in Toronto and London, England before opening Red Lion Smokehouse in Thunder Bay, Ontario.
All of our food is made in-house with fresh ingredients - locally sourced whenever possible. Our menu is a mix of classic British Pub favourites with a smokehouse twist. We always have lots of vegetarian and kid friendly options as well as daily and seasonal feature dishes.

Red Lion Smokehouse favourites are now available for Take + Bake at home. Items are pre-cooked and portioned so you can prepare a Red Lion Smokehouse meal at home. Red Lion Smokehouse is a barbecue restaurant and smokehouse in Thunder Bay’s waterfront district. We love great food and good beer so we created a place where you can enjoy both. Our beer list is made up of craft brews from local breweries as well as our favourite British and American brews.
Our food is homemade with fresh, seasonal and local ingredients. We smoke our meat slow and low and then finish it in a Josper grill to seal in the flavour and keep the meat moist and tender.
Our patio is now open for drinking & dining. Please call us to make a booking. Take out and Delivery services are also still available.
